Craft
Make dog paws out of felt and elastic. Staple or glue together so children can wear their own dog paws. May use face paint to give each child a nose and whiskers like a dog.
To use as a template: save picture to desktop then click on print and select size as "full page"
Another example of the dog paw prints can be found at: http://www.kidsdomain.com/craft/bluepawprint.html (Blue's Clues)
Flannel
Dog's Colorful Day by Emma Dodd (I use this book with a flannel board - cut out a large "dog" and spots in the various colors mentioned in the book - you can cut out more than one of each color if you have more than ten children. Have the children hold the spots and put them on the dog as you read the story. I created my flannel dog with the black spot already drawn on but you can also make that an additional spot for one child to put on the dog.
Activities:
Put pawprint clues on 5 items then have the kids find one pawprint clue at a time (like playing blue's clues)
