all songs, fingerplays, and ideas are used for educational purposes only and not for profit.

apple rhymes and fingerplays:

Feltboard: Make 5 little red apples with green stems out of felt.

Rhyme to go with feltboard:

5 red apples hanging in a tree, (hold up hand with five fingers)

The juiciest apples you ever did see, (rub tummy or wiggle fingers)

The wind came by and gave an angry frown (put fingers by mouth and make a frown)

And one little apple came tumbling down. (take away one finger)

4 red apples hanging in a tree.... (repeat until all apples are gone!)

I have children take turns getting an apple off the feltboard unless there are too many children.

Songs and Fingerplays:

(Chant)

Way up high in an apple tree (reach way up high)

Two little apples smiled down on me (hold up fists like two apples in a tree)

I shook that tree as hard as I could (shake a tree trunk)

Down came the apples - (use hands to show apples falling down)

Mmm, mmm, good! (rub tummy, smack lips)

Song:

(tune of muffin man)

Do you like to take a walk?

Take a walk, take a walk?

Do you like to take a walk?

I like to do that too.

...Turn around

....Call a friend

...Climb a tree

....Eat your lunch

Song:

(tune of London bridges falling down)

Yellow leaves are falling down

Falling down, falling down

Yellow leaves are falling down

Leaves are falling

(make finger flutter down like falling leaves)

(have children pick next color: orange, red, brown, etc.)

Snack: apples, water, and crackers
